Today we did egg and spoon, Simon Says, Apple Bob, toilet paper, dizzy bat, and flag race all on horseback. We stripped our stalls and made a cake.

Hello everyone!
This morning we had Fox Run Farm Pony Camp Olympics! We had flag race, egg and spoon, dizzy bat, toilet paper race, and apple bob. Peyton and I won the toilet paper race with the smallest and tallest horse, it was rather fun. After we stripped stall and came in to pack and get ready to leave L. We were signing Cierra’s shirt when Morgan accidently spilled blue Gatorade all over the white shirt. It then became my job to try to get rid of the stain in the sink to which Miss Elizabeth replied, “ Welcome to Motherhood” which is when I realized, yet again that I’m growing up even though I don’t want to.

I believe that for the last day of camp, it was really calm! None of us were upset or bouncing off the walls! We don’t want to leave, but I guess we have to. See you soon and hi, Mom and Dad! Bye!

Well, I didn’t know what to expect really, when I volunteered to help Beth (her childhood name) with Pony Camp. I knew there would be girls, horses, work and fun. But really, there was much MORE – MORE WORK & MORE FUN!!
My first impression was that these girls must be CRAZY to ride in this heat!! My Michigan body complained but really, I got used to the sweat. J I’ve been amazed at what great horse women these campers are. And it is so cool to see how much they love their horses. Speaking as someone who sees the difficult side of life daily in my job, I worry less about our world when I see girls who love and care for their horses and each other.
Here’s lasting memories I have of each:
Jessica – her joy in Reggie and her ability to risk loving him after such a big loss of her 1st horse.
Taylor – her ready knowledge and her cool “work of the week” – “c’mon”…!!
Peyton – her honesty in sharing with us girls and her good spirits and humor. (Keep loving Vinnie, Peyton!)
Morgan – watching Morgan and Danny splashing in the swamp and having such fun.
Autumn – Autumn’s intense focus on some things and her willingness to freely share her blackberries with all.
Cierra – watching Cierra hang in there while sick and gamely participating while feeling lousy.
Ada – risking while being the new girl and having a gentle spirit.
Elizabeth – seeing my sister in her element, having such skill and knowledge and sharing it with the girls in such a loving and positive way (while still being tough!). I think she is really gifted and I am so proud of her.
So, thanks, campers and Elizabeth, for accepting me, a non-horsey person, into your midst. I had blast!
